My Summer Teaching Experience at Rrooar Academy

At Rrooar Academy, every classroom feels like a workshop of ideas. The excitement is contagious, whether kids are building with LEGO bricks, coding in Minecraft, or crafting stories in Creative Writing.

What surprised me most when I started teaching here was how much I would learn alongside them. Each lesson was not just about passing on knowledge, but about growing together.

Watching students discover their potential gave me the chance to discover more about myself as a teacher, mentor, and learner.

Minecraft Coding

Minecraft is already a favorite for many kids, but when they learn they can code inside it, the excitement is on another level. At first, many students loved using loop commands to spawn infinite mobs, filling the world with animals or monsters. It was chaotic and fun, but also a starting point.

Over time, we transitioned into more advanced coding, where students learned how to spawn mobs in specific areas, at certain times, and for purposes like running a farm. Watching that progression, from simple commands that created chaos to thoughtful code that created systems, was incredibly rewarding.

For me, guiding them through that process was a reminder of the importance of patience. I learned how to simplify complex concepts, celebrate small victories, and show students how to channel their creativity into purposeful design.

Roblox Coding

Roblox Lua coding pushed kids to think like true developers. At first, we focused on the building tools in Roblox Studio, which felt like using CAD software. Students loved creating structures, obstacle courses, and game maps by dragging and dropping parts.

But eventually we took the next step, using Lua code to generate those same structures faster and with more precision. Seeing their reactions the first time they ran a script that built in seconds what would have taken hours by hand was priceless. It was a turning point, where they began to see coding not as extra work but as a powerful tool.

For me, this mirrored my own growth as a teacher. I realized that sometimes you start with the basics, but real breakthroughs come when you show how the tools work together.

Young Engineers

The Young Engineers LEGO Bricks program was one of the most hands-on and exciting sessions. Kids built cars, cranes, and carousels while learning the science behind them. One of my favorite moments was using a LEGO gyro and carousel to explain the principle of centripetal force. Students could feel the difference when they spun their designs faster or added weight, and suddenly physics was no longer abstract. It was in their hands.

What stood out most was how each student brought creativity into the builds. Even when we all started with the same kit, the outcomes were unique. It taught me that engineering is not about one right answer, but about exploring possibilities and experimenting with design.

Creative Writing

Not everything at Rrooar Academy was about code or machines. Creative Writing gave students a chance to stretch their imagination and tell stories in their own voice. At first, many would summarize their stories by telling us directly how a character felt. Over time, we worked on the principle of “show, don’t tell.” Instead of saying “she was scared,” they learned to describe trembling hands, quickened footsteps, or a heart pounding in the dark.

Watching their storytelling grow more vivid and powerful was inspiring. For me, it reinforced that communication, whether in writing or coding, is about finding ways to express ideas clearly and creatively.

Conclusion

Looking back, my time at Rrooar Academy has been about much more than teaching. It has been about growth, for both the students and myself. I entered ready to share what I knew, but I leave with a deeper appreciation for curiosity, creativity, and perseverance.

These are lessons the kids gave me in return. Every Minecraft farm, Roblox script, LEGO carousel, and carefully crafted short story was proof that learning is a two-way street. As I watched them grow, I became a better teacher and a better learner.

That is what makes Rrooar Academy so special. It is not just a place where kids grow, it is a place where curiosity turns into confidence and where both students and teachers discover how much they are capable of achieving together.
